This year’s Tony Twyman Awards go to….

The winner of the Tony Twyman Award at this year’s International Radio & Audio Conference in Prague was Rasmus Kidde, an audience researcher at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. His presentation ‘Youth and Music: usage, curation and discovery’ examined the role music plays in young peoples’ lives and what the eco-system of music consumption looks like. Streaming services, playlists, mood management, convenience and curation are keywords – but where does this leave traditional radio? How can broadcasters continue to be relevant to young audiences in terms of music and consumption? You can view the presentation here.

At the 2019 International Television & Video Conference, the Tony Twyman Award was won by Nora Schmitz of Ipsos and Davide Crestani of Auditel. Their presentation ‘A little bit of the spotlight please’ focussed on the importance of establishment surveys, the essential component to ensure the representativeness of measurement systems and how, as measurement adapts to changes in viewing behaviour, so too must establishment surveys.
