asiCast 143 Conference Session Preview: Streaming and OTT – where is the industry heading?

As streaming moves centre stage in the distribution of content, what insights can we get from around the world of the balance between streaming and broadcast, between on-demand and linear and between TV sets and other devices? Is the SVOD era phasing into one of hybrid models with ad-free and ad-funded tiers?

In this asiCast, our Research Director Richard Marks chats to Lucia Antal, Head of Research and Development at PRO TV, about the session she will be chairing at this year’s asi International Television & Video Conference in Nice. As well as her responsibilities at PRO TV, Lucia is Chair of the local JIC and has been overseeing the current tender process, which is due to report in January of next year.

Although linear still dominates viewing in Romania currently, streaming is becoming an increasingly significant element as it is everywhere. As the business models between global players and local broadcasters become increasingly blurred, everybody is looking for the consumer. As pressure grows on consumer budgets it will be increasingly difficult for platforms to rely on subscriptions as a sole source of revenue.

The 2022 asi International Television & Video Conference will be held in Nice, France, on 2nd to 4th November 2022.
